Was Chris Benoit Murdered? New Clues Spark Push to Reopen Grisly WWE Death Mystery

A growing movement of wrestling fans and supporters is calling for authorities to reopen the investigation into the 2007 deaths of professional wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy, and their son Daniel.

The push stems from lingering questions about a bizarre Wikipedia edit that predicted Nancy Benoit’s death 14 hours before the bodies were discovered, fueling speculation that the case, ruled a murder-suicide, may involve foul play.

On June 25 2007, at 12:01 a.m., an anonymous user edited Benoit’s Wikipedia page, stating he missed a WWE match due to “the death of his wife Nancy.” Shockingly, this edit was made from an IP address traced to Stamford, Connecticut, home of WWE headquarters, and occurred nearly 14 hours before police found the bodies in Fayette County, Georgia.

Authorities later stated Benoit strangled his wife and son before hanging himself with a weight-machine cable, but the Wikipedia anomaly has never been explained.

The anonymous editor, claiming to be from Stamford but unaffiliated with WWE, confessed on a Wikipedia discussion page that the edit was based on “rumors and speculation.” Yet fans find the coincidence too extraordinary to dismiss.

Chris Benoit and his wife Nancy were found dead with their son Daniel in their home in suburban Atlanta at around 2:30 p.m.

“How could someone at WWE’s doorstep know Nancy was dead before anyone else?” asked longtime fan Sarah Mitchell, who organized a petition with over 10,000 signatures demanding a new investigation. “It screams cover-up or insider knowledge.”

Speculation persists that Benoit, a celebrated WWE star, may have been murdered, with the crime staged as a suicide.

WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt denied in 2007 that anyone at the company knew of Nancy’s death before the discovery, and text messages from Benoit’s phone sent hours after the edit added further mystery.

Authorities have not commented on the renewed calls.

As the movement gains traction online, supporters hope fresh scrutiny will unravel the truth behind one of wrestling’s darkest chapters.
