Tata Technologies won an extended remit with Volvo Cars focused on developments in product engineering, embedded software systems and product lifecycle management (PLM) services.

The tech vendor noted the deal to become a strategic engineering supplier to the automotive company marks a significant expansion of an existing relationship between them.

Under the latest pact, Tata Technologies will play a broader role in Volvo Cars’ aims around electrification, software-defined vehicle platforms and intelligent in-car systems.

Tata Technologies CEO Warren Harris indicated the company would support the carmaker’s ambitions of “crafting intelligent vehicles that enhance safety, sustainability and user experience”.

The deal is the second announced in the space of a ten days by a vendor in India related to Volvo Cars’ digital transformation efforts, with the other an agreement unveiled by HCLTech.

In a statement, HCLTech noted its agreement drew on “an established relationship in digital and PLM services” and “significantly expands HCLTech’s role to cover the delivery of end-to-end engineering solutions at scale” to the car company.
