US President Donald Trump and his sons unveiled a mobile service with a plan to offer a Trump-branded gold phone over the coming months, after striking MVNO agreements with three of the country’s major service providers.
The Trump Organization stated the Trump Mobile 5G service comes with an unlimited plan at a cost of $47.45 per month, a nod to the fact that Trump is the 45th and 47th US President.
Customers of the 47 Plan can use their current iPhones or Android phones to switch to the service with physical SIM or eSIM cards.
The golden-hued Trump T1 phone features Android 15, and a 6.8-inch touchscreen with a 120GHz refresh rate. The phone, which will be available in September, also has a “fingerprint sensor and AI Face Unlock,” according to the Trump Organization website. The phone will cost $499.
The President’s two oldest sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, announced the service and phone during a press conference at Trump Tower in Manhattan.
“Trump Mobile is going to change the game,” Donald Trump Jr. said in a statement. “We’re building on the movement to put America first, and we will deliver the highest levels of quality and service. Our company is based right here in the United States because we know it’s what our customers want and deserve.”
The website didn’t mention AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile US by name in the announcement, but noted the MVNO service is available “through all three major cellular carriers” in the US.
The Trump Organization noted the Trump Mobile customer-service team is based in the US and available 24 hours a day.
“When customers call, they’re talking to a real person,” the company stated.
Trump Mobile and the MVNO partners are subject to regulatory oversight by the Federal Communications Commission, which is led by Trump-appointed chair Brendan Carr.
According to a financial disclosure form filed on 13 January, President Trump reported more than $600 million in income from selling Trump-branded watches, bibles, shoes, fragrances, and a coffee table book.
