Trump Axes Hunter Biden’s Secret Service Detail Following Dinner with Ellen DeGeneres

President Donald Trump has abruptly ended Secret Service protection for Hunter and Ashley Biden, slamming their extravagant lifestyles as a jaw-dropping burden on American taxpayers.

The announcement, sparked by Hunter’s extravagant trip to South Africa where he was pictured having dinner with Ellen DeGeneres, underscores Trump’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and reining in excessive government spending.

Joe Biden had granted his children six months of Secret Service protection after leaving office—a common perk extended by outgoing presidents, including Trump, who provided the same for his own children after his first term.

But Trump drew a hard line when he learned Hunter, accompanied by an 18-agent detail, was soaking up the sun in a $500-a-night beachfront villa in Cape Town last week, hobnobbing with Hollywood A-listers, while racking up costs estimated at $500,000 per day. Ashley, with her 13-agent detail, wasn’t spared either, despite her less ostenatious life in Philadelphia.

“Hunter Biden has had Secret Service protection for an extended period of time, all paid for by the United States Taxpayer,” Trump declared on Truth Social. “There are as many as 18 people on this Detail, which is ridiculous! He is currently vacationing in, of all places, South Africa, where the Human Rights of people has been strenuously questioned.”

He added, “Because of this, South Africa has been taken off our list of Countries receiving Economic and Financial Assistance. Please be advised that, effective immediately, Hunter Biden will no longer receive Secret Service protection. Likewise, Ashley Biden who has 13 agents will be taken off the list.”

The decision came swiftly after a reporter questioned Trump about Hunter’s detail—an expense the president said he hadn’t known about but vowed to address. True to his word, Trump acted within hours, delivering a bold statement against what he sees as wasteful spending. With the Secret Service already stretched thin protecting Trump and his family, the move frees up critical resources while sending a clear message: no one gets a free ride on the taxpayer’s dime.

The Biden children’s loss of protection isn’t without precedent. Early in his presidency, Trump cut security details for figures like John Bolton and Dr. Anthony Fauci, proving he’s unafraid to trim fat wherever he finds it. Critics, including Democrats who once balked at the $1.7 million cost of protecting Trump’s own children in 2021, may cry foul, but the president’s supporters see this as a triumphant stand for accountability.

Hunter’s financial woes—despite his high-profile pardons by his father for firearms and tax evasion charges—add irony to the saga. He’s claimed poverty in court filings, citing struggles to sell artwork since his father left the White House, dwindling book sales, and a $2.9 million alimony debt to ex-wife Kathleen Buhle, plus $5,000 monthly child support for his daughter Navy Joan Roberts.

Ashley, meanwhile, faces scrutiny over a $250,000 donation from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell Foundation to her Women’s Wellness (Spa)ce charity—a sum now under the microscope of Trump-aligned watchdogs.

For Trump, this isn’t just about Hunter and Ashley—it’s about delivering on a promise to put taxpayers first. By stripping away what he calls a “ridiculous” perk, he’s chalked up another win for fiscal conservatives and a resounding rebuke to the Biden family’s excesses.
