A groundbreaking study out of South Korea has identified a statistically significant link between COVID-19 vaccination and a rare neurological condition, transverse myelitis (ATM), a disorder that affects the spinal cord and can lead to severe and lasting paralysis.
Published in the European Journal of Neurology, the peer-reviewed research highlights a stunning 141% increase in ATM cases following COVID-19 vaccination, with the risk varying by vaccine manufacturer.
The study examined vaccine-specific incidence rate ratios (IRRs) within a 42-day post-vaccination period, revealing troubling statistics.

The highest risk was linked to AstraZeneca’s ChAdOx1-S vaccine, with an IRR of 3.31 (95% CI: 1.81–6.05). Moderna’s mRNA-1273 vaccine carried an IRR of 2.57 (95% CI: 1.14–5.97), while Pfizer’s BNT162b2 vaccine showed an IRR of 1.99 (95% CI: 1.30–3.03). The Johnson & Johnson Ad26.COV2.S vaccine had a similarly elevated IRR of 3.33 (95% CI: 0.30–36.44), though this figure is based on smaller sample sizes and wider variability.
Researchers emphasized that their findings mark a significant advance in understanding the link between COVID-19 vaccines and neurological diseases including ATM.
According to the authors, “We were able to find several studies which indicate the causality between the COVID-19 vaccination and ATM,” adding that the study provides critical data that had been overlooked or downplayed in earlier analyses from the United States and the UK.
ATM, a rare but debilitating condition, occurs when inflammation damages the spinal cord, leading to symptoms such as limb weakness, sensory issues, and bladder or bowel dysfunction.
The study raises urgent questions about mRNA vaccine safety, particularly the long-term risks associated with novel mRNA platforms.
The findings also challenge global vaccine monitoring systems, which, the authors argue, have largely depended on self-reported data that may under-represent adverse events.
With COVID-19 vaccines administered to billions worldwide, the study underscores the importance of an honest and open discussion in society about the disastrous consequences of the vaccine roll out.
