Siemens Digital Industries Software agreed to acquire engineering content platform Wevolver for an undisclosed sum to bolster its Supplyframe unit, a division which provides intelligence and recommendations on technology design.

Wevolver runs a platform and social media channels for the engineering and technology development communities featuring posts from companies, educational institutions and other experts on the latest technologies.

In its statement, Siemens outlined an ambition to use the asset to bolster its Supplyframe business, which it bought in 2021.

It explained the move would combine “digital marketing and integrated campaign programmes that include go-to-market support and content creation”.

Supplyframe CEO Steve Flagg added “the future of product development starts with smarter design decisions”, noting “by joining forces with Wevolver, we’re not just expanding our reach; we’re accelerating a new era of design-to-source intelligence that’s collaborative, data-driven and built for the speed of tomorrow’s manufacturing”.

In their statement on the move, Wevolver co-founders Bram Geenen and Richard Hulskes highlighted the combination would form “the single largest destination for engineering professionals to access the knowledge and build the connections they need to innovate, design and manufacture”.

The founders plan to stay on under the Siemens umbrella.
