Hollywood celebrity Sean Penn has described his friend Hunter Biden as “one of the finest people I know,” and declared that he is “proud” Joe Biden issued him with the most wide-ranging pardon in US history.
Biden’s pardon for his son isn’t limited to the gun and tax cases where he was found guilty. It covers all potential federal crimes Hunter may have committed from January 1, 2014, when the Biden family influence-peddling business was in full swing.
Penn — who has become a close friend of Hunter in recent years, and whose paintings hang on his walls — went on to call the president’s son “one of the finest people I know” and the numerous charges against him “one of the horrible hit jobs of all time” and “existentially insane.”

As The People’s Voice reported, many people took issue with the fact that Biden had spent all year insisting he would not pardon his son, only to go back on his word.
Penn tried to make excuses for Biden’s lie, telling Variety, “I do not believe that Joe Biden, had he won the presidency, would have pardoned his son. I don’t think it was a lie; I think it was a change of mind and circumstance.”
“Any father that didn’t do that [pardon their son] would have been remiss,” Penn told Variety. “I don’t know if I want to have a beer with somebody who wouldn’t have pardoned Hunter Biden, being their son.”
“This is a guy who has taken on the most severe addiction, and has so much to offer people who are suffering or families who are suffering through that,” Penn said.
“And I just I’m glad that the possibility is there now that he’ll have the time and space to be able to offer that support to people, which I know is what he wants to do.”
“We would be proud to have him,” the Mystic River star added. “He’s also a fantastic painter.”
The Hollywood star went on to tell Variety that he views the incoming Trump administration as “a dangerous clown show.”
Penn’s outburst prove how out of touch the Hollywood elite are with the rest of America.
The majority of Americans reject Penn’s position—evidenced by Trump’s decisive victory in the 2024 election. In a historic outcome, the 45th and soon-to-be 47th president won not only the Electoral College but also the popular vote, sweeping every key swing state.
The election also saw Republicans reclaiming majorities in both the Senate and the House of Representatives, delivering a resounding message from the American people.
