Speaking at a cabinet meeting Thursday, Kennedy confirmed a sweeping research effort is underway, mobilizing hundreds of scientists globally to tackle the question of autism’s origins. “At your direction, we are going to know by September,” he told Trump, underscoring the urgency and scale of the initiative to uncover what’s driving the dramatic rise in diagnoses.

Kennedy’s announcement comes as the CDC and HHS issued a joint statement last month announcing a a large-scale study into the relationship between vaccination and autism.
“CDC will leave no stone unturned in its mission to figure out what exactly is happening,” the statement said.
“The American people expect high quality research and transparency and that is what CDC is delivering.”
President Trump in February said his administration would investigate rising autism rates, suggesting at the time, “Maybe it’s a spray that we spray all over the place.”
