The F1 Explains podcast has won a global award – Gold in the Sports Podcast category at the 2025 New York Festivals Radio Awards.
The awards are open to podcasts and radio shows from all over the world, and are judged by an international panel of experts.
F1 EXPLAINS: What happens inside an F1 garage during a race – with Haas
F1 Explains invites you to send in questions about how the sport works as presenters Christian Hewgill and Katie Osborne find the best people to answer them, including F1 drivers, engineers, and strategists.
Recent guests include mechanics who work in the Haas F1 Team garage, Williams Racing Team Principal James Vowles, Mercedes Reserve Driver Valtteri Bottas and double F1 World Champion Mika Hakkinen.

Launched in 2023, F1 Explains now has listeners in more than 120 countries. New and long-term F1 fans send in questions on a variety of F1 topics, from driving style to the logistics of how the sport moves around the world.

F1 Explains impressed the New York Festivals judges with a world-first episode recorded on the F1 Sprint starting grid at the US Grand Prix, a live show with Ollie Bearman, Mika Hakkinen and listeners on the F1 Fanzone stage, and an aerodynamics expert from McLaren answering questions on how downforce works.
