EIT Startups Rank Among 2025’s Leading Greentech Innovators

TIME and Statista have named several startups supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and our Knowledge and Innovation Communities among the top 250 companies in 2025 for their efforts in reducing environmental impact

This prestigious recognition highlights 19 startups supported by Climate KIC, EIT Digital, EIT Food, and InnoEnergy underscoring the EIT Community’s commitment to powering impactful startups helping to accelerate the green transition and boost Europe’s competitiveness. EIT adds value through the support it offers to startups from the very beginning – from idea development to market entry – with tailored business creation and acceleration programmes. Thanks to early business creation support, EIT-supported companies and startups are currently valued at over EUR 71 billion.

The list is based on an analysis of companies’ positive impact, innovation, and financial strength, and covers more than 8 000 companies from over 30 countries.

Among the top-ranked startups backed by the EIT Community, Planted Foods AG and Mosa Meat have both secured spots in the top 10. Planted Foods AG (#5), supported by Climate KIC, is a Swiss startup producing meat from plant-based protein. The mission of the company is to reduce the negative impact of the traditional meat industry on the planet.

Mosa Meat (#10), supported by EIT Food, is a Dutch food technology startup creating cultivated meat whose production has a lower impact on the planet due to the reduced amount of energy used during the process.
