Biden Rambles About Civil War on The View When Asked About ‘Cognitive Decline’—Jill Biden Forced to Save Him

Jill Biden was forced to step in and redirect an awkward moment on The View after President Joe Biden gave a rambling, disjointed response about the Civil War when asked to address growing concerns about his mental fitness.

Asked by co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin about Democratic sources in new books who allege there was a “dramatic decline” in his cognitive abilities toward the end of his term, Joe began a long and meandering story involving the Civil War, Covid, and President Donald Trump.

As the moment grew increasingly uncomfortable and President Biden veered off into unrelated tangents, Jill Biden stepped in to interrupt and steer the conversation back on track, prompting a round of applause from the liberal audience. Watch:

Jill said: Alyssa, one of the things I think is that the people who wrote those books were not in the White House with us.”

“And they didn’t see how hard Joe worked every single day. I mean, he’d get up. He’d put in a full day, and then at night he would — I’d be in bed, you know, reading my book, and he was still on the phone, reading his briefings. Working with staff. I mean, it was nonstop.”

The former first lady also praised her husband for working hard and said, based on the state of things now under President Donald Trump, “give me Joe Biden any time,” leading to more applause from the audience.

Griffin also pressed the former president about his sudden departure from the 2024 race under pressure from senior Democrats like Rep. Nancy Pelosi.

Biden claimed he wasn’t pushed, but rather stood down because he didn’t want a divided Democratic Party, while again insisting during the show he would have beaten Trump.

“I thought it was better to put the country ahead of my interests, my personal interests. I’m not being facetious. I’m being deadly earnest about that,” Joe said.

“And I think that we still— let me put it this way. I had six more months. Did a pretty good job in six months.”
