Colorado Democrats, led by House Speaker Julie McCluskie, are urging low-income pregnant mothers to get abortions, framing it as a cost-saving measure for the state.
McCluskie pitched the pro-abortion bill this week by arguing that preventing births through abortions reduces Medicaid expenses. “A birth is more expensive than an abortion,” she stated, emphasizing that the savings stem from “averted births that will not occur” due to the procedure, a stance that has sparked fierce debate over its implications for vulnerable families.

Smith also pointed out the dystopian pro-abortion pitch is similar to a 2017 Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC) article titled, “Medically assisted deaths could save millions in health care spending: Report,” which presented euthanasia as a way to save money.
“Doctor-assisted death could reduce annual health-care spending across the country by between $34.7 million and $136.8 million, according to a report published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal on Monday,” the CBC wrote.
