Deutsche Telekom broadened the field of enterprises capable of using a smart networking system to mid-size companies, arguing such businesses now face the same transformation challenges as the larger players already offered the product.

The Telekom SD-WAN network is based on Juniper Networks’ technology, providing a secure, AI-native set-up. The system is geared to deliver reliable performance for critical applications and introduces self-healing capabilities.

Deutsche Telekom explained the set-up tackles common issues around the source of production instructions, European Union data protection regulations and accessing software stored in the cloud.

The most important traffic is automatically routed using the best connection available, Deutsche Telekom stated.

Niklas Horstmann, VP for secure networking in Deutsche Telekom’s T-Business unit, said the self-healing element is delivered by the system prioritising critical applications, providing “reliable and secure connectivity” mid-sized businesses “need for transformation”.

Juniper Networks VP for product management, campus and branch, Sunalini Sankhavaram, said its Marvis AI engine “continuously monitors the network and applications to identify and resolve issues in real time”.

The company employed generative AI for the user interface.

Deutsche Telekom is pitching the set-up on security features including advanced firewalls and edge protections; ease of deployment by businesses with a minimum of three sites; a boost in the performance of cloud services; and the German-speaking expert consultants used.
