Amazon Web Services (AWS) followed Nvidia, AMD and Qualcomm in striking a deal with Saudi Arabia’s newly created AI company Humain, with the pair planning to invest more than $5 billion in the country on the technology’s adoption, infrastructure and training.

AWS stated it will work with Humain to build an “AI Zone” in the nation, the first of its kind, bringing together multiple capabilities including dedicated AWS AI infrastructure and servers with “world-class semiconductors” and technology to enable faster AI training and inference.

The newly minted company has wasted little time in striking high-profile deals, signing an agreement to use Nvidia chips in its data centres, a $10 billion collaboration with AMD and a data centre processor tie-up with Qualcomm.

Public Investment Fund (PIF)-backed Humain launched this week to coincide with US President Donald Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia, during which he claimed to secure $600 billion in commitments from the Kingdom to US companies. Saudi Arabia has also pledged to invest $20 billion in US AI data centres.

Attract investment
AWS will work with Humain to integrate machine learning and generative AI developer services like SageMaker and Bedwork, as well as AI applications platforms such as Amazon Q.

The partnership with Humain expands on moves made by AWS to develop infrastructure in the region which is set to become available in 2026, through a $5.3 billion investment. The new outlay is on top of what it has already pledged, as it looks to help the country meet its Vision 2030 goals.

Humain plans to develop AI solutions using AWS technology, working with the company on: a unified AI marketplace; simplifying the deployment and management of AI software for the Saudi government; spurring adoption of large language models including an Arabic variant; and boosting adoption of AI by organisations and industries across the Gulf region.

Humain CEO Tareq Amin said the deal with AWS would create an offering “that will attract global investment and talent, thereby driving our digital transformation agenda forward”.
