AT&T added new features to its mobile security app, including the ability to scan social media accounts for signs of unauthorised activity, scams and malicious links, or content that could damage a customer’s reputation.

The ActiveArmor mobile security app’s upgraded capabilities also include lost wallet recovery to help customers recover credit cards, debit cards, check books, driver’s licence, or other ID cards.

In the event of lost or stolen cards, subscribers are connected to the operator’s recovery specialist with a single click on the app.

If a customer experiences identity theft, the US operator will work with credit bureaus to mitigate the damage, send letters of dispute to creditors and file an identity theft affidavit with the Internal Revenue Service.

ActiveArmor’s encrypted password manager allows wireless subscribers to create, store, and recover their login credentials and automatically fill in online forms directly from the app.

The same password features can be added to computer browsers such as Chrome, Safari and Edge by using an extension. Those features sync with the password manager on the mobile app.

A representative for AT&T told Mobile World Live ActiveArmor uses machine learning and the operator’s network to help detect and frustrate illegal robocallers. AT&T uses cybersecurity company F-Secure as its app developer, according to the representative.

The new features are available to mobile customers with premium plans or for $3.99 per month with other wireless tiers.

The mobile operator launched ActiveArmor in 2022 to consolidate its Call Protect and Mobile Security apps.

The app is available for downloading at Google Play and Apple’s App store.
