The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) announces that applications for the fourth edition of the EU Organic Awards open today, 11 February 2025. The application period runs until 27 April 2025, and interested parties can access the clear and friendly user application form on the EESC’s official website starting today. 

The EU Organic Awards recognise excellence throughout the organic value chain, rewarding the best and most innovative actors in EU organic production. These awards are jointly organised by the European Commission, the EESC, the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), COPA-COGECA, and IFOAM Organics Europe.

Categories of the EU Organic Awards

The awards feature multiple categories, including:

  • Best organic farmer (female and male)
  • Best organic city
  • Best organic region/bio-district
  • Best organic food processing Small Medium Enterprises (SME)
  • Best organic food retailer
  • Best organic restaurant/food service

The EESC manages three specific categories:

  1. Best organic food processing SME
  2. Best organic food retailer
  3. Best organic restaurant/food service

Organic producers, processors, retailers, restaurant holders, food service providers, city or region public authorities are encouraged to showcase their organic projects and highlight why they are excellent, innovative, sustainable, and reproducible within the EU’s organic sector.

How to apply & key dates

  • Application opens: 11 February 2025
  • Deadline for submission: 27 April 2025
  • Winners announced: 23 September 2025 (EU Organic Day)
